Memories TravelCourse
A trip to Seochon Village, located west of Gyeongbokgung Palace, enables people to see traces of Seoul in the 1970s and 1980s. People can experience entering an old coffee house, a comic book store and a photo studio from the 1970s at the Streets of Memories located in the outdoor exhibition hall of the National Folk Museum. Cheongwadae Sarangchae is located on the way to Seochon Village. The starting point of Seochon Village is Tongin Market. As soon as people enter the market, a delicious aroma will stimulate their sense of smell. Kkwabaegi (twisted breadsticks) and gireum tteokbokki (spicy oil rice cakes) taste exactly like in the past. There are lots of worthwhile things to see in Seochon Village such as Daeo bookstore (60 years of operation) and ‘Okgin game room’ (an old electronic game room recreated by the fundraising of Seoul citizens).
Introduction The National Folk Museum of Korea displays the folk culture of Korea. Cultural materials related to agriculture, fishing and hunting are exhibited here. The outdoor exhibition is made into a park that consists of Street to the Past, waterwheel, and jangseung (Korean traditional totem pole at the village entrance).
